Outlook - How to stop emails being automatically marked as Read

In Outlook 2007, to prevent emails being automatically marked as read without clicking into the email itself:


Click Tools->Options and in the pop up box that appears click on the ‘Other’ tab:



Click on ‘Reading Pane’ shown above and the following box will appear:



Make sure the first two boxes are unticked and then click OK.
