Printing A1 & A0 pages using the Plotter

Modified on Thu, 6 Mar at 4:43 PM

The purpose of this article is to outline the necessary steps to allow you to print A1 & A0 sheets using one of the plotters. As a pre-requisite you are required to install the Plotter onto your laptop. Please see https://storyhomes.freshdesk.com/a/solutions/articles/42000093292 (Carlisle) or https://storyhomes.freshdesk.com/a/solutions/articles/42000083687 (NE & NW) if you need to do this first

Microsoft Apps (Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc...)

The following example is using Excel and I am trying to print a document onto A1

Firstly, open up the print menu of Excel

Select the Plotter from the Printer dropdown menu & click Printer Properties below. Please change the following settings (substituting A1 for your required page size)

Document Size --> A1

Orientation --> Landscape

Scale --> A1

Cutter in multi-page job --> Off (Carlisle only)

Click the Save button and call it something like A1 Preset to keep these settings remembered. Upon repeat usage, you can select the Preset dropdown and then select the preset to automatically change everything to the desired options

After this, Excel will have a few inbuilt setting that will need changed to the following (in addition to the Plotter-specific ones)

The example I am using is just to fit a single document onto a single side of landscape A1, so depending on your requirements you may need to contact IT support if you are unsure how to proceed

PDF Files - Foxit / Acrobat

The following example is using Foxit. Acrobat will have a slightly different layout but the same process is followed

Firstly, open up the printing menu of whichever app you're using. I will use Foxit and print as an A1

Select the Plotter from the Name dropdown menu & click Properties next to it. Please change the following settings (substituting A1 for your required page size)

Document Size --> A1

Orientation --> Landscape

Scale --> A1

Cutter in multi-page job --> Off (Carlisle only)

Click the Save button and call it something like A1 Preset to keep these settings remembered. Upon repeat usage, you can select the Preset dropdown and then select the preset to automatically change everything to the desired options

Click OK and then go to Page Setting in the bottom left (This may be called different things depending on which app you are using). If required, also change this section to be A1 & Landscape

Click OK and then OK/Print to send the document to the Plotter
