Reducing PDF filesize with PDF24

Modified on Fri, 16 May at 8:57 AM

To open up PDF24, simply type it into the search bar at the bottom and open

Once opened, click on the option to Compress PDF. A new menu will open which will allow you to either us the file explorer to find the PDF that you wish to compress or simply drag & drop

Once you've located the file, click to select and click Open

Once PDF24 has got the PDF, directly underneath will be a few options for you to review concerning the quality of the document post-compression, mainly to do with any images the document may contain. It's best to leave these as default but can be changed depending on your requirements

If you're happy, click Compress. PDF24 will work away for up to a minute and then provide a compressed version, which still contains everything within the document but at a lower file size. The below example reduces the filesize by about half from 1.11 megabytes to 518 kilobytes

Click on Save to then save this version onto your laptop. At this point you can close down PDF24 and then continue with your newly-compressed PDF. It does not override the original PDF so both versions will exist if you i.e. were not happy with the compressed version and needed the original back
