Excel Performing Poorly

Modified on Thu, 26 Jun at 8:54 AM

As of when this article was created (25/06/25) we've seen many users mention that their Excel is running particularly poorly all of a sudden - the other Office apps are fine and nothing else on the laptop seems to be performing bad either

A common solution would be to disable All Excel Add-ins you have installed, particularly the PDFMaker.OfficeAddin

To disable this & any other Add-ins you may have, navigate to the following in Excel

File --> Options --> Add-ins

Change the content of the Manage dropdown menu at the bottom to say COM Add-ins and then click Go...

Untick any Add-ins that you have active and click Ok. Note - You may want to disable 1 at a time and monitor Excel's performance i.e. you may only want to disable PDFMaker.OfficeAddin before you disable any others such as the Anaplan add-in for finance users

Close Excel, Save any work and then restart your laptop. When you next open Excel the Add-Ins should be disabled
